Camille Styles

This season we celebrate our store opening at Domain Northside, and enjoy the sunny skies of Austin with Camille Styles, founder of CamilleStyles.com. A creative & energetic spirit, Camille welcomes us into her gorgeous home and shares with us a few of her favorite neighborhood spots while reminding us of the importance of living a healthy, well-balanced lifestyle.

On a Sunday in Austin…

You start the morning with?

Coffee and a few minutes of mindfulness to get myself centered for the day — deep breathing, prayer or journaling, and thinking about what I want to happen that day. I love the slower pace of Sunday mornings — it feels like such a luxury to stay in my pajamas and not be rushing to get anywhere!

You’re working or resting?

Resting. For me, Sundays are all about recharging for the week ahead.

Favorite kid-friendly place in the neighborhood for Phoebe and Henry?

We love to hit up Josephine House for brunch: green juice, grain bowls, and the best pastries in town.

You’re most likely wearing…

Leggings and sneakers — my husband Adam and I always start the morning by pushing our double stroller around Ladybird Lake, then head to brunch afterwards.

Favorite ways to wind down the weekend...

My favorite part of the day is watching the sun go down from our back patio with tacos and veggies on the grill and a glass of wine in hand.

When it comes to the southern charm of the city…

What do you love the most about living here?

Sunshine, Mexican food, and most of all, the warm welcoming vibe of the people.

Delicious local brunch spot?

Café No Se is light-filled and so pretty and has a front-row view of funky South Congress Avenue. I order the avocado toast and an almond milk cappuccino, and I love when my kids order their kouign-amann pastry so I can steal bites from them.

Best time of year to visit?

Spring is usually gorgeous and sunny, before the summer heat sets in.

Secret local spot to get inspired?

Every weekend, my first stop is the downtown Austin Farmers’ market. I get inspiration for new recipes by perusing what’s currently in season, and I love chatting with the vendors and learning about their products. There’s such a great energy, and on a warm day, the park will be full of locals eating breakfast tacos and listening to live music.

On living a healthy, well-balanced lifestyle…

Best way to decompress?

On the weekend, I love to meet friends on the patio at Perla’s. We’ll order platters of oysters and a bottle of ice-cold rosé, and just enjoy the luxury of not having to be anywhere.

What’s a book you’ve read that positively shaped you?

A Short Guide to a Happy Life is a simple, short treasure that reminds me how fleeting life really is and helps reset my focus on what matters most.

Most rewarding part about being a mother?

When I see my kids demonstrate love and kindness, I’m so proud of the little people they’re already becoming — it’s such an amazing feeling. And you can’t beat those endless hugs and kisses I get every day!

Guilty pleasure?

I definitely believe that there’s a place for enjoying pasta, a good glass of rosé, and the occasional scoop of gelato, as long as the majority of my meals are centered around tons of veggies, especially colorful leafy greens. I eat a big salad every day, but I also feel like my day is not complete without a little indulgence too.

An Austin-approved dinner menu & entertainment for a party with friends?

Our go-to summertime party is inviting friends over to help make pizzas on the grill. Everyone gets a job — rolling out dough, shredding mozzarella, topping the pizzas out at the grill — and then gather around a big table and enjoy the fruits of our labor. Usually, I make a big salad like this one with Kale, Persimmon, & Pomegranates, to go with it.

On personal style and your career…

The motivation behind writing your book, Camille Styles Entertaining: Inspired Gatherings and Effortless Style?

The vision behind my book is to put the fun back into entertaining — to show readers that throwing great parties is all about expressing your personal style and creating great memories with friends. The book includes my go-to party recipes and all of my tips and tricks for hosting chic gatherings with zero stress.

Heels or flats?

Living in Austin, I’m becoming more of a flats girl all the time. It’s such a casual city and personal style is more about being creative with your wardrobe choices than it is about dressing to impress. I definitely feel my most beautiful when I’m comfortable and feeling at ease in my own skin.

Best piece of style advice:

"Beauty begins the moment you decide to be yourself.” - Coco Chanel

What’s next on the horizon for you and your blog?

I feel so passionate and thankful for my job. My dream would be to continue getting to create content that inspires me and to continue collaborating with the incredible team I get to work with every day. We have some exciting projects in the works: I just signed on as Target’s new style spokesperson and my company is about to move into a new studio space in downtown Austin, to name a few! My ultimate goal is to continue challenging myself and to try out new ways of creating content that our audience loves.
