Long before the days of Garance Dore, Scott Schuman and Tommy Ton, French photographer Eugene Atget shot the street style of Parisians. Starting this week, over 8,500 of Atget's photos are on display at MoMA, including many that demonstrate the personal style of everyone from gypsies to street merchants in the 19th and early 20th centuries. We're excited to check it out, and get a little vintage style inspiration from a time before style blogs and digital cameras. More info at MoMA.com.
The allure of a personal diary is something that can't be replicated via Twitter stream or Facebook profile--in some cases, paper is best. Author Teresa Carpenter has taken diary entries and official records from the past 400 years and combined them in her new book, "New York Diaries," in order to create a unique history of the city. The collection includes diary excerpts from Jack Kerouac and poet Marianne Moore. We can't wait to read how NYC used to be according to those who lived there. Available on Amazon.com.
We're all about natural ingredients when it comes to things that we put on our skin or in our bodies. Enter: Snowberry, soon to be our new favorite skincare line. Created by Soraya Hendesi, a cosmetologist from New Zealand, many of the ingredients used in the products are indigenous to New Zealand and are grown on Hendesi's 50-acre farm. Add in the fact that the packaging is simple and fun, and that none of the products are larger than 3.4 ounces (perfect for travelling), and the appeal of Snowberry is obvious. Available at HenriBendel.com.
Whether you're celebrating this Valentine's Day with a significant other, or riding solo, we've got something fun for you to do. The Arclight Theater in LA is showing classic romantic movies from February 12th to 16th. With movies including "Sabrina" and "The Philadelphia Story" playing, we'll definitely be there, sipping champagne and watching some of our old favorites back on the big screen. Visit ArcLight.com for more info.
We've been playing "Origins" by Tennis non-stop for the past week, so we couldn't be more excited for the release of this Denver-based duo's newest CD "Young and Old," this Tuesday. Produced by the drummer of the Black Keys, and featuring a ton of upbeat pop songs, we'll be downloading this album the instant we wake up tomorrow! Available Feb. 14 on iTunes.

What: Eloisa Sweater in Light Heather Grey, $298
Why: Because the only thing better than a puppy in a sweater is a puppy ON a sweater. And the soft cashmere in this piece will make you want to wear it daily.
Pair it With: A pair of skinnies for a casual look that is as stylish as it is comfortable, or layered on top of your favorite frock for a fun twist.

Rarely will you find us this excited for a TV show--but the premiere of Smash has been marked on our calendars for weeks now. Seriously. What could be better than a less-cheesy version of Glee, combined with an American Idol-style competition show? We're thinking nothing. That's not to mention that Smash is produced by Steven Spielberg and has an all-star cast of Debra Messing, Katherine McPhee and Anjelica Huston. We can't wait. Tune in to NBC tonight at 10pm and we can discuss tomorrow.
Our roots may be part Parisian, but we can't get enough of NYC, so of course Vahram Muratyan's new book "Paris vs New York" is on our coveted list. Muratyan's prints compare the culture of Paris and Manhattan through beautiful graphics--think baguettes vs. bagels, and Amelie vs Carrie. We've been lusting after them since he started his mega-popular blog of the same name--but now we can have them all! Visit PenguinGroup.com to purchase.
The Council of Fashion Designers of America is turning 50 this year, and to celebrate, starting Feb. 10 The Museum at FIT is hosting a collection of over 100 garments and accessories designed by some of the CFDA's most prominent members. With the Mulleavy sisters of Rodarte, Tom Ford, and Oscar de la Renta among the designers represented, it's safe to say this show is a must-visit for anyone who's ever had a love affair with fashion. More info at FITNYC.edu.
New York's Fashion Week is almost upon us, and though the thought of hitting Lincoln Center makes us more than a little anxious, we're itching to get up to the Museum of Art and Design to try out model Elettra Weidemann's pop-up restaurant Goodness. Serving lunch created by a different chef each day (including Mario Batali of Babbo and Leo Forneas of Robert), Goodness seeks to be a refuge comprised of healthy, locally-sourced eats from the NYFW craziness. This, we like. More info at GoodnessPopUp.com.
We're always looking for new restaurants to try out, and it seems as though L&E Oyster Bar in Silver Lake may just become one of our LA staples. Not only does it feature super fresh oysters for the slurping, but with vintage illuminated signs and wine racks lining the walls, it has the perfect understated decor we strive to achieve at home. We'll be regulars in no time. Visit LEOysterBar.com for more info.

We've had Lana del Rey's "Blue Jeans" permanently stuck in our heads for what seems like forever, so we're thankful to have a fresh selection of playlist fodder from the buzzy new artist. Lana del Rey's album releases tomorrow, and of course it'll be first on our to-do list the instant we wake up. Buy your own copy on iTunes.
There's something about the strangeness of surrealist paintings that evoke the imagination more than much else. Combine that with strong female artists and we're sold. Enter LACMA's latest exhibit which showcases the works of women Surrealist painters such as Frida Khalo and Lee Miller--a guaranteed must-see. For more info visit LACMA.org.
The ferocity at which we stalk street style photos during Fashion Week is intense, to say the least. Who doesn't love to see what Taylor Tomasi-Hill is wearing at every given second, right? Apparently we're not the only street style addicted; The W Hotel in Times Square has partnered with Elle's Sydney Wasserman and photographer Adam Katz Sinding to produce "Scene on the Street," a photo exhibit chock full of sartorial genius. Get more info at 21arrondissement.com.
There are few things we love more in life than the simplicity of a one-stop shop. And Le Parker Meridien has created Underground to be just that--a one-stop mecca for all of your beauty and wellness needs. With an outpost of blow-dry only salon Drybar and the ultimate in mani/pedis Tenoverten, as well as Moonshine, a spa, and Petite Blue Dog Cafe for some post-pamerpering sustenance, we're going to have to be forced to leave. More info at ParkerMeridien.com.
We've been searching for a new novel to really dig into--and now we've found it. Penelope Lively's latest novel, "How It All Began," depicts the series of events that result from the mugging of an elderly woman. Seemingly unconnected character's lives intertwine throughout the tale, bringing to light the massive effect that one small occurrence can have on many different lives. We can't wait to pick it up (and not be able to put it down!). Available on Amazon.com.

We're of the mind that our collection of coffee table books will never be complete. So we have no problem adding this new tome from Assouline to our collection. "American Beauty" features over 100 portraits of quintessentially American women--think the likes of models Lily Aldridge and Joan Smalls all photographed by Vogue alumna Claire Swanson Frank. Beautiful images and empowered women--yes please. Pre-order available at Assouline.com
Whether or not you are Team Juice Cleanse, it's impossible to deny the nutritional benefits of fresh-pressed juices, and former L.A. Times Magazine food editor, Amanda Chantal Bacon, is bringing the juicing trend (or rather, her version) to Venice. Offering menu items like ginger lemonade, celery cilantro punch and banana walnut milk, Moon Juice sounds like a reliable pit stop for getting in our weekly servings of fruits and veggies. 507 Rose Avenue, Venice, CA.
There is something special about the idea of an English afternoon tea in New York. Which is why we were thrilled to hear that Tea by Tiffany is hosting a traditional high tea at the OpenHouse gallery this Tuesday. With four organic teas for the consuming as well as sandwiches, biscuits, scones, and petit-fours -well, we're counting the seconds until we can clink our tea cups like the Brits. Cheerio! It's been a long four years since the last Chairlift album debuted. Good thing tomorrow is almost here, because with it comes the release of "Something." We've been blasting "Met Before" all week, and if it's any indication, our iPod is bound to be a 'Chairlift Only' zone for quite some time. Check out the band's new tunes for yourself and visit iTunes on Jan. 24 or now to pre-order.
There's been a serious art invasion in LA called the Pacific Standard Time Festival, and luckily for us, it's not stopping until January 29. This 11-day festival focuses on postwar art from 1945-1980, and features works on view throughout the entire city. But the inspiration isn't just limited to paintings hanging on a wall -performance art, outdoor installations, and theater and sound art are all on display now. Find a friend and plan a cultural date this week. More info at: pacificstandardtimefestival.org/

There is no greater turn off than bad manners. Thankfully, we have Henry Alford's modern guide to manners to keep us in check. A light-hearted and wisdom-filled tome, it strives to teach readers how to be respectful of others, without the preachiness. We can't wait to pick up a copy and brush up on our social graces. Available at Amazon.comOne of our favorite aspects of the holiday season is that sparkles are not only accepted, but they're basically an outfit requirement. We're thrilled that the queen of glitter polish, Deborah Lippmann, just released a trio of sparkly hues with the moniker "Get This Party Started," designed to do just that. The set includes the best-selling "Happy Birthday" glitter polish, along with the black and pink-based versions. Our hands are going to look amazing wrapped around a champagne flute this season. Purchase at Lippmanncollection.com
The happiness that comes from glancing down at your fingertips and seeing a bright pop of color is something we miss in the winter months. Good thing spring is within sight, and with it comes new polishes from Essie. Colors include an electric orange, a wearable fuschia and a toned-down lime green–time to brush up on our nail art! This exhibition explores the friendship between minimalist artist Dan Flavin–the artist most famous for his works involving fluorescent light sculptures, and abstract expressionist artist James Brooks in the seventies.
