  • The Joie Girl's Guide: April 14-20

    NEW YORK:

To get us in the mood for the Food Book Fair beginning later this month, Word is hosting a pop-up bookstore from April 18th-27th. They will be turning The Shop at Wythe Hotel into a literary heaven with over 150 hand-selected titles ranging from cookbooks and memoirs, to books about art and culture. So whatever your genre of choice may be, we're pretty sure you won't be disappointed. Head over to the Wythe Hotel and stock up on unique reads (fabulous hostess gifts if you ask us) for you and your loved ones!

This week rings in the 13th annual Tribeca Film Festival and rumor has it this Tribeca program will be one for the books. Kicking off the event is the Nas documentary, “Time is Illmatic,” followed by a musical performance by Nas himself. From April 16th through April 27th Lower Manhattan will be buzzing about featured films like “Dior and I,” “6,” and “Ballet 422.” This is one event you won’t want to miss.

    SAN FRANCISCO:

Got plans Friday night? Cancel them... because Lana Del Rey is in town! After all the buzz from her Coachella performance, we couldn't be more excited for her upcoming concert at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco. Chances are high that show-goers will even get to hear her brand new single “West Coast,” so drop those Friday night plans and get your tickets here.

    LOS ANGELES:

As loyal patrons since the opening of Superba Snack Bar on Rose, we were ecstatic to hear of their newest venture, sister spot Superba Food + Bread in the heart of Venice. This bakery meets café, meets restaurant, bar and community hub is a must-try. Plus, they'll be serving breakfast, lunch, AND dinner which means you’ll basically never want to leave. Not only does the food sound delicious, but the open-air patio is even more inviting for either a cup of espresso or a glass of Pinot. Head on over and check it out for yourself!

    EVERYWHERE:

The most recent addition to our bookshelves is Elle Magazine-approved read, Can’t and Won’t by Lydia Davis. As a collection of short stories, no two are the same. Ranging from powerful one-liners to stories in the form of letters, Davis’ newest collection is both witty and refreshing. Plus, with a variety of topics and characters, Can’t and Won’t is sure to speak to every avid reader in some shape or form. It's officially on our summer must-read list. Get your copy here.
